Traveling is fun!
We got up at 4:15 this morning in order to get to the airport on time. Of course i woke up at 3 and couldn't get back to sleep, but that's just me.
All the lists were crossed off and we got out of the house, only having to back down the driveway once to make sure that the garage door closed. (Sometimes it doesn't. Stop laughing, it could have been left hanging open.)
At the airport we get in the line for people who already have checked in online and have boarding passes. Right as we get to the front of the line, some lady behind the counter tells us that our flight has been cancelled and we need to go and stand in another line to reschedule for a flight that is 3 hours later.
We go and stand in that line for awhile and then another lady looks at us like we are crazy and tells us that the flight has NOT been cancelled and that we need to go back and stand in the line that we were in in the first place.
Back to the first line, and after another half an hour of line standing, we are finally able to check our bags. Sigh.
Lots of worse things could have happened, but why does it always seem that the people working the counter have the worst communication skills in the world? Do they look for people with resumes that say "unable to correctly give out information and will need to take a break if things get busy."
We were in a bit of a rush at that point, and had to scramble to get a quick breakfast at Burger King. I swear that there was some egg-like substance on my sandwich that had never seen the inside of a chicken's ass. Maybe it was polyester, maybe epoxy, who knows.
It good to be here safely and to see my friends. I can't go to sleep yet because my body thinks it's 6:45. So as the Mister snores beside me, i am typing and reading.
Cheers all.

So glad you got your original flight. Nice to be in your destination after all the prep of getting there! Have fun with your friends!
omfg--you could've totally missed your flight! I think there's a term for gate agents. The french call them "les incompetents"
Glad you made it and are comfortably AWAY! It's fun to blog elsewhere, don't you think?
And for what it's worth, I really hope those eggs had never seen the inside of a chicken's ass
The joys of airline agents! They're all bureaucrats that were previously employed by the social security administration or veterans affairs office, and were let go because they were too knowledgeable and communicated effectively. Have a nice trip and enjoy sleeping 'til ten.
the inside of a chicken's ass you slay me!
Glad you made it safe and sound, airports suck, I wish we could all boycot until they got their act together.
glad you made it safely.
your title completely cracked me up.
Life Is Fun!
Gald you got to your destination safe and sound. BK rawks ;-)
There you go again, eating inedible food! Of course, BK is likely more edible than airplane food which also costs waaaaaay tooooo much! Now you know why they say to get to the airport 2 hours early - because agents are always screwing things up!
UGH! Airport travel. It's getting more and more fun with the rules about what you can and cannot bring with you, too, isn't it? Husband and I decided that the next time we go anywhere for more than a day or two, we're just going to pack our clothes. We'll buy soap and shampoo when we land...
I'm glad you're there safely. Here's hoping your internal clock readjusts quickly.
The description of the "egg substance" in the Burger King sandwich was priceless! LOL
Peace,
~Chani
I'm with mignon - I hope that NO chicken product I eat has EVER seen the inside of a chicken's ass.
And Patches - they aren't former social security bureaucrats - they are all former driver's license clerks. the social security administration WISHES they could underperform like the various DMV's across this most technilogically advanced land of ours.
Meno - I hope you are enjoying our un-winterly eastern warm weather and have lots of fun with your friends. BTW - don't they have a Cinnebon in the Seattle airport? Why go with a (supposedly) decent breakfast when you can consume thousands of calories in one mound of gooey cinnimon icing goodness.
MOI, i will. This morning they are at work and the Mister and i are drinking tea while Em still snoozes below.
hanni, those french people are SO SMART!
mignon, it is a fresh perspective on the world. Chickens only have one exit from their bodies, called the vent. All things come from this one space. Nice huh? So that's where eggs come out too, and the poop. Still hungry?
patches, i swear they all take extra training in being unpleasant and unhelpful.
marsha, i love being places, but the getting there really bites, especially this time of year.
jen, See my subtitle for more of my feelings about life. :)
sanjay, um..BK..sells food units that have been formed into the shape of food. You can't fool me.
maggie, we were desperate, and Em was whining and we were stressed. We did get there two hours early, and then wasted 1.5 of those hours dicking around in the lines.
mrs.chili, Did you know that chapstick is a terrorist threat? Well know i do.
chani, glad you liked it. I swear it was nylon.
bob, see a description of chicken anatomy for the ugly truth. There is a cinnabon somewhere, but not in the wing we were in, and the Mister was standing in what looked like the shortest line as the plane was boarding, so time was of the essence.
I don't think I like flying anymore. It is a real quick way to get someplace but most of the fun sure has been taken out of it. Enjoy your trip and we who are still out here in the wild west (well weather wise anyway) will try to keep things calm.
I swear, I'm going to put up a little kiosk past security that sells toiletries. I'll make a mint.
Enjoy your holidays!
Damn you and your fancy chicken anatomy knowledge!
have a wonderful time with your friends. we're trying to figure out what to do since we are on our own this Christmas and going down to DC is on the list of maybe's. We might run into you (but then how would i know? hmmmm.)
Merry Christmas!
dick, i don't enjoy it anymore either. I hope you had no troubles from the storm.
nancy, i teased the security guy who was standing there with a table full of confiscated "contraband" that he should open a sundries store. He didn't think i was very funny.
mignon, sorry about that. Omelet?
u-u, look for two 6 foot tall women, the older one is me. Merry Christmas to you too!
Hey, Babe! Merry Christmas, Darlin'.
Isn't Holiday travel grand? I start my road epic tomorrow amidst reports of pending freezing rain, sleet, hail etc. The fun just doesn't stop.....
Funeeee! The only positive thing about airport travel nowadays is that it gives you lots of good blog fodder. Airports are The Ultimate People-Watching Kingdoms of the World.
Hope you're enjoying your holiday!
P.S. That was also very informative. I did not know that about chickens... I am going to be eggs-tra careful about how I crack an egg from now on. Eeww.
Hi holly, glad to hear from you. Are you still touring? Merry Christmas back at you!
sarcasta, good luck with that. I think i might just stay home if i were you.
ortizzle, it is good people watching! Sorry about informing you of the chicken anatomy.
Not touring just now. I'm finishing the revision of a novel, but I'll be back on the road in January. Thanks for asking.
