This is what Christmas morning was like at our house; Meno-made Cinnamon rolls and bacon on my recently acquired Holiday plates. I ate three rolls and 5.5 pieces of bacon.

Now we are in San Diego, lounging at a fancy hotel, eating too much and walking in the cool, but sunny weather. You'll be pleased to know that there has been no outdoor nudity. Because that would be against the rules. Those Californians are no fun.

There is an ocean here:
And cliffs:

That is all. Carry on....

Do you like irony, my dear? Because I'm finding it pretty freaking hysterical that you quilted table linens AND ate off of holiday china. YOU.

WHILE, I, little girly girl me, did not even pull out holiday china, stemware, sterling nor linens. I put the kibosh on fancy dining, and drank out of a coffee mug with rabbits having sex depicted on it.

BEAT THAT!!!!

And your la dee da vacation?? Well, phooey on you.

(this is me. all piss and vinegar)

I know what you mean about eating way too much..my family goes out to special places Christmas Eve and Christmas day in between all that we show up to his family and there is tons of food set out while people pop in and out...

And holiday home baked gifts this year were crazy.. everyday we would get two or more care packages for the last two weeks..

My boobs are bearing the brunt of it. I alway sgain weight there first. My cups do spillith over. AGH!

So glad you are having so much fun. Carry on. Cannot believe you now have holiday plates.

I forgot about your San Diego trip. You picked the perfect time to go, it has rained_all_day_long. I betcha miss it, huh??

Soak up some sun and have a rollickin' time. I think you should seriously consider buckin' that rule - rules are made to be broken, right?

Wanna swap cinnamon roll recipes? I've got a GOOD one, and yours look pretty dammed yummy, too!

yummy breakfast, there, on those cutest of holiday plates. hope y'all have a great time in cali.

Girlplustwo said...

are those cinnamon rolls homemade or out of a can?

and meno, bring that bacon over to my house while you are down here and you can be naked all you want to.

flutter said...

ooohhhh my hometown. *sigh*

Bob said...

you BURNED the bacon. blech.

while you're down there, drop by my brother's house and greet the new puppy - and then report back.

meanwhile, the rebel that you are, I just know that as soon as you saw the sign you went starkers. that'll show "the man". in more ways than one.

liv, i like the irony plenty. But you have every good excuse in the world. Moving, illness, trauma, small children who wouldn't notice. I used to have that rabbit mug, and a penguin one too.

ttq, better the boobs than the gut, which is where mine shows up.

marsha, it's liv's fault. 100%.

fiwa, i am SO SORRY to hear about that rain. (Is my nose growing?)

mrs. chili, mine is from that Betty Crocker cookbook with the red gingham cover. And i added some almonds for looks. But send yours along, i don't know beans about cooking.

jen, MINE all mine. Meno-made. No can. Bad can. Okay, last Christmas we had the can ones, i confess.

flutter, it's beautiful here. By that i mean that the sun is out.

bob, it's actually noy burned. It's some sort of nature-type bacon with no processing, and it came black like that at the edges. It was good too. If it was a tad warmer, i just might flash the man...

Holly, they are cute aren't they? Liv is responsible for them.

OMG...bacon anytime anywhere is the perfect meal!

Oh...and we Californians do too know how to have fun. You just have to know where to look to find the fun. ;~)

Sounds like you're having a good time! We're watching the Holiday Bowl from San Diego right now, looks like it's pretty nice there.

Have a wonderful time. Those photos look familiar. I'm glad I got to live in San Diego for several years.

And watch the nudity. Eat more bacon or something, whatever helps.

Dang I wish SD were just a skosh closer and not on the other side of 2 hours of traffic hell.

Have fun!

The side of the cliff looks like a macro shot of flaky, flaky cinnamon roll. I guess that's what I get for reading before breakfast.

Enjoy your trip.

peevish said...

Ooh, the cinnamon roll looks yummy. And San Diego? How will you ever survive?

Em said...

The breakfast looks yummy! Too bad about that 'no nudity' thing though...that surely limits the fun.

You are a tease. Cinnamon buns and ocean and then you tell me to carry on. Sigh.

furiousBall said...

yeah ocean and cinnamon buns are a pretty unbeatable combo... oh AND bacon? fuhgetaboutit

No nudity in California?! What the hell?

Hope you have a wonderful New Year!

The bacon looks absolutely yummy...the cliff looks like icing....I should go eat? Have a fun trip!

Bacon makes everything better - YUM!

Have fun on your vacation - it snowed when I was trying to leave Sea-town yesterday. Didn't appreciate that AT ALL!

It's 85 and sunny here in Seattle. Enjoy that Prius yo!

jaded said...

What good is the sun if you can't lay around naked? I lay around naked all the time and it's no big deal. In fact I'm doing it right now.

joan, i know, i could be a vegetarian if it wasn't for bacon...and pepperoni, and hamburgers.

sari, it is, although the locals are complaining that it's too cold.

hearts, it's beautiful here. I wish we could stay.

suebob, sometimes we go to SF too, but that's pretty far from you as well.

de, you must be hungry!

peevish, i know, life is hard. Probably still snowing in Colorado.

em, we'll just have to settle for indoor nudity.

deb, try, try with all your might to carry on.

furious, i know, if i only was eating bacon AT the beach.

franki, and i thought california was all about the nudity. WTF?

pat, that's what de said, about the frosting. But i see that you are right.

qt, that it does. Snow? How rude. I hope your trip went okay.

egan, liar.

patches, that's because you are not really naked, you have lovely soft fur all over your body.

You lucky duck!)
I'm wondering if "That Place Across the Street From the Sports Arena" is still there. Lived near it about 1969!

Meno, maaaaate, please do me a favor (or fav-or-ree-as they say in San Diego), jump in dat sea, it is over 115f here, my pour heart is melting...

There may not be much left by time u get back from wonderland-nudity is fine, but watch the sharks.

I am still wondering about the 5.5 pieces of bacon. Surely you did not reject that last half piece of bacon. No, no. Someone else must have nicked it off your plate. Just broke off a piece of one of the original six, when they were all in a lovely heap on your holiday china plate, thinking you would hardly notice. But of course you did. Because why else would you have eaten 5.5 pieces of bacon?

I think I need a vacation. Preferably like the one you're having.

That cinnamon bun looks awfully yummy...can't figure out how you stopped at just three. Does the ocean in San Diego look any different than the ocean in Seattle...given that it's the same ocean? Just wondering, since I've never been north of Eureka. Hope you enjoy the rest of your trip. As far as public nudity...there are beaches down that way that cater to the 'au natural' crowd. At least that's what I've heard:~)

Jennifer said...

That they needed a sign prohibitting nudity is a story unto itself, somewhere.

Your breakfast intake was much like mine. Except I added a heaping helping of egg casserole on top.

Next year is for dieting. Christmas is for eating.

Mother of Invention said...

Have a fabulous trip! Wouldn't mind that recipe for the buns! Could you please post it sometime?

Happy New Year!

See? Further proof that the internet is just high school all over again. Liv peer-pressured you into the whole holiday plate thing! Next thing you know, you will be looking around your house wondering how all those silver holiday figurines got there, why your dresser is covered with pink nail polish and perfume, and why you have so many pairs of sunglasses.....

meno said...

mamap, i love you too.

luckyzmom, i am lucky. I didn't see that place, but i did see the PetCo Arena.

pam, the sea here is a tad cold to be jumpin' in. But were it warmer i would.

ortizzle, i ate the last half of a piece that Em had left. Can't waste good bacon, no?

lynn, i stopped at three because i was STUFFED. But i ate two more the next morning.

jennifer, Mmmm, egg casserole. Yum.

moi, the recipe is from the Betty Crocker cookbook with the red gingham cover.

amusing, so this is how it starts? I am now officially scared.

From what you said about the locals take on the temperatures down there, I'll bet that has more of an effect on the nudity level than that stupid sign. It's naked- someone ought to put a swimsuit on it (the sign.)

I don't know what part of Seattle Egan was in but I'm a bit north of the city and it hasn't been very close to 85 degrees here. But it is nice that it is now staying light later in the day.

Oh meno~~ I am soo jello! San D is one of SF's and mines favorite places to vacation! I swam with the dolphins there... best.damned.day.EVER!

We had cinnimon rolls and bacon too! Have fun sweety! Go have a fish taco for me down by the water... little tiny walk up stand....

egan said...

Aw, you busted me. Damn you!

I too made cinnamon buns, but mine stunk and I threw the remains in the garbage. Glad yours were good. Bah humbug.
