WWMD?
Went hiking last Friday with my friend. It was beastly hot that day. (Stop snickering, it was over 90 degrees F! So it was too hot.)
At the terminus of the hike, this is what we found:
Mmmmm. That water sure looks cool and refreshing.
We looked left:
We looked right:
No one in sight.
Hmmm. What to do, what to do?
I'm sure you would have made the same decision we did.
(As an aside, the most common way for google searchers to get to my blog is something like "family sk*nny dip" or "sk*nny dip blog" all because of a post i wrote over two years ago about a hot summer night at our house. Weird.)

Like there are other options.
Of course in the case of jesus someone would have taken one for the team and been baptized.
I remember that post...
I would have gone in in my clothes.
Don't hate me.
It looks lovely. I've never been skinny dipping. That creek looks like a good place to start.
Hey, it's better than chunky dunkin'. :-)
shirley, we had no other choice.
de, no, i would never hate you. But honestly, there is no better way to swim.
deb, never? OMG! Seriously, you have missed a really great life experience/
cagey, well, there might have been one of us.....
you said terminus.
And then there is the extreme pleasure of putting ones clothes back on ones damp, cooled off and fresh body.
Bathing suits are highly overrated.
What an idyllic spot. Naturally you went sk*nn* d*pp*ng. But it doesn't look deep enough for a proper swim. And of course you wouldn't have been so uncouth as to filch a few souvenir stones.
Knowing the PNW like I do... I'd bet money you two could cut glass after your dip!
What's up with this ungodly heat? CRIPES!!!
the last time I went skinny-dipping, I lost my virginity. makes subsequent skinny-dipping anti-climactic.
I can't believe it was that hot there! That's almost as hot as....well, not here. But hot!
flutter, tee hee!
hearts, HIGHLY overrated. I recommend against them.
nick, there were some deeper spots. And no, we didn't steal any of the fabulous rocks. They wouldn't fit in out packs.
cheesy, you know, it wasn't as cold as i had expected. And i am ready for some rain. How's that for an odd thing to say?
bob, was that last week?? :)
sari, no, not as hot as there. but still, pretty damned hot. And most of us here do not have air conditioning.
Wow that looks nice! Come here Meno, we will go hiking together :)
We just were in Eastern Washington for a long weekend and the daily temps there were over 100. Leavenworth, 100. Chelan, 101-103, Winthrop about 100. It was even 78 at Washington Pass, 5400 foot elevation. Kind of nice to get back home to our cool side of the mountains but they tell me it will be again in the 90s this weekend.
Last time I tried that the jet boats with all the tourists came up and TURNED AROUND right in front of us...
A boat full of old ladies clapping...
Loverly...
looks delicious! I can feel how cool it must have been
I would have looked for a hotel with AC ;)
You know I would have been right there with you!
I am envious.
Hey, that's what I woulda done too!
In my misspent youth we did that, and took a camera, and got yelled at by the Photomat lady who developed them.
This was in the pre-digital camera world, of course.
i'm sure you chose modesty over pleasure of the flesh...
I love that you are brave enough to skinny dip. As I always tell my best friends, no one, no matter how much I love them, will ever see my pubes.
And yet, I write a sex column for a living.
how fucked is that?
