Adios por un momento

I am heading off tomorrow morning for what should be a great trip, planned last September with my friend Kim.

Two nights in Chicago.  Then off to Ecuador and the Galapagos and then Machu Picchu.  Won't be home until the end of May.

I wish my mental circumstances were better, but i am still glad to be going.  I'm sick of looking at my sad face around here, that's for damned sure.

The only thing is that Em is coming home from college two days after i leave.  Oh well, bad timing.  She'll do well here by herself, but my inner mommy can't help fussing a bit.

I left her a tiny little welcome home present in her room.  Can't tell you what it is yet, but when you do see it, you'll all be a little jealous.

Internet access may be spotty, except on the boat.  (What a world!)

Your words have meant a lot to me.  I go back and re-read your comments when i need some comfort.

Take good care of my baby girl while i'm gone y'all.

This is wonderful news! I have always wanted to see Machu Pichu. Relax and enjoy the Galapagos turtles and Ecuador and flirt with handsome men, just for the practice. Bring back pictures and take great care of yourself. Em will be fine, and so will you. Really. Bon voyage!

Just what you need. Hope you have a great trip and stabilise your turbulent emotions a bit. Em is a smart, capable person and she'll be just fine.

How fantastic! I envy you this trip, you'll have a blast. My wife and I were just talking about wants and wishes for future travel and South America was discussed.

I too think this is just what the doctor ordered. Have fun and think of us poor laboring masses occasionally.

I am so, SO happy that you are getting away for a few weeks. I think this will be a cleansing time for you - a great opportunity for you to step outside your life for a brief while and sort things out. Oh, and a great chance to RELAX and be on VACATION. Don't forget to do that, okay?

Hey, I have been missing from the blog world for the last six weeks or so because I was actually (for once) working and just caught up with all of this. I want to send my love. That's all. xo

I'm envious and I hope you have a wonderful time. Take lots of pictures. Breathe deeply. Cry. Laugh. Enjoy.

This is fantastic. I see a book in you about all this. I really do. Or maybe a screenplay. So many can relate. And how fortuante you can actually get out of the house. So many can't so this is HUGE.

That sounds like a really great trip. I hope you soak up every bit of enjoyment out of it that you can.

Don't worry about Em, she'll be fine. We will keep the parties to a minimum, promise. And don't lock up the booze this time, ok?

love,
fiwa

This trip sounds like a most excellent distraction.

Em will be fine, you have taught her to be strong and independent.

Just what the doctor ordered*) All that vitamin D should lift your spirit and warm your heart.

Hey, Meens. Hope you're having a good time on your trip. The lack of internet access would bother me but the whole point is to go out and enjoy the things you would never see if you were home, right? I commented on another post somewhere (thought it was this one but apparently not) but I'm hoping you saw it. xo

A trip with a friend sounds wonderful and especially to visit unusual places. Plus you will get away from our lousy "spring" weather! Have fun.

I would say this is perfect timing for you to go to exotic locals. Wow, It's so, Eat Pray Love.
Have a great time, allow yourself to feel whatever you feel.

Wow! What a trip! I want to see the Galapagos someday.

Take tons of pictures so we can see too :)

Hmm...is the tiny little present a kitten? j/k ;)

I hope you can take a few deep breaths and really enjoy some inner peace as you take in the scenery along the way.
