You can't make this shit up

completely gratiuitous and irrelevant picture of the butt crack of a teenage girl in a public place.

I was at the local mall yesterday, hanging out while selling some used books and reading Savage Love in The Stranger.

I started hearing some twittering from behind me, giggles and whispers from a group of people. I wasn't really paying much attention until one of them came up to stand beside me.

"Did you used to be famous for something," (as opposed to famous for nothing?) she asked me, "My friend thinks you did." (why is it always the friend?)

"Um, no."

"Are you SURE?"

I took a moment to consider my answer, as if i couldn't quite recall. "Yes, i am sure."

She issued a delicate snort and flounced off to report back to the friend.

WTF?

*************************

In a shameless attempt to call attention to myself, i wish to point out that today is my two year blogiversary. What an interesting ride it's been. Thanks to all of you for making it so. What fun we've had. Yay me. YAY YOU!

Happy blogiversary! It's been a fabulous two years. SO happy you are still writing.

Teenagers are weird. It's funny to me that they had to ask "Are you sure?"

No jackass, I'm not sure. I'm just not sure how far word of my awesomeness has spread.

Ahem. You ARE famous for doing something. Anyone can see that.

2 years, huh? nice.

Maybe she meant infamous?

I have seen that ass before. San Francisco, Fisherman's Wharf. It was complete with chill bumps, and yes I have a photo too.

h.e., nope nary an autograph has ever been requested. And i'm ok with that. Thank you!

princess, we are an odd pairing you and i, but i like you, i really like you. I also wish i had had that snappy answer ready, but i was pulled out of the fog from reading, so i wasn't as sharp as i needed to be.

jen, thank you. We all sorta grew up together here huh?

mrs. chili, thanks, you are kind to say that.

sari, i wish i had thought to ask! You are famous to me because you took WV off for me. <3

furious, thanks dude! you too.

ortizzle, i love to snap pictures of odd things. I just can't resist.

fiwa, i'd be a bad famous person. I's probably get arrested for punching out an overly excited fan.

patches, i have one from the NY Museum of Natural History's women's room. Think we need to do a photo challenge?????

flutter, don't be dead please. :)

You're famous for blogging for two years. Famous for taking random shots of low rise jeans on teenagers. If you were a man, you'd be in jail right now. Consider yourself lucky.

I love the famous angle. It's a good icebreaker for the shy gal.

You should have made up something totally bizarre and let her spend the next week telling everyone how she met the Kielbasa Queen or the woman from Springer who had a love child with her husband's brother's neighbor's pet monkey.

That happens to me all the time. Porn star, right?

Anyway...time does fly.

those pants are hurting me.

Happy 2 year blogiversary that really is quite an accomplishment! I wonder what would have happened if you would have answered "yes". As for the teen age butt-crack...it doesn't look any better on my plumber.

QT said...

GAH! That crack....

Wow, two years ~ fun times, fun times.

Happy happy!

It's sure been nice being along for the ride the past coupla years.

happy blogiversary!!

why, oh why, didn't you say "no. BUT i was famous for nothing!" oh, to have seen the look on her face!

it's funny, last night i was thinking about doing a post and calling it "can't make this shit up".

i didn't. you did. i like yours better anyway!

You're famous in my world. (Of course, I don't know that many people, but we won't mention that part)

Happy Blogiversary!

I was hoping that was YOUR butt crack. Congrats on being thought of as being famous, AND on two years blogging.

Wow, and there isn't even a heavy toolbelt to take the blame.
Happy Blog Anniversary!

egan, in jail? I think you exaggerate. I'd just get a ticket!

gina, i know i should have. I am sad at the missed opportunity.

de, porn star! Damn i wish i'd a thought of that!

lynn, thank you! Butt crack is NEVER pretty.

qt, i wish i would have had the nerve to show the girl the picture, but i didn't. It has been fun, and should continue to be so.

jennifer, what a long strange ride it's been. :)

robin, Thank you! Feel free to post your own "make this shit up" post. It's an appropriate title for so many situations.

maggie, if i am famous to you then it's all been worthwhile!

crazymumma, as if i would post my own butt crack! HA!

sally, i was wearing my tutu though. Maybe that was it.

peevish said...

Just in case that ever happens again, you must come up with a really good story.

And then tell us what the story is, so we can help spread it.

Scott from Oregon said...

"Butt crack is NEVER pretty."

I disagree.

Good buttcrack on a girl looks like cleavage...

TTQ said...

I'm enbarrased for the butt crack girl. Why oh why did they ever invent those low low low rise jeans, if they stop on my hip I don't buy them. Now it's burned into my brain.

If I recall being a teenager correctly, I checked my ass out from every angle in every thing I owned. That was not the look I was going for..have standards sunk to plumber's butt in a mere 15-20 years.

And factoring in panty lines..that wasn't even an issue for this young girl.

Famous in my own head so that counts right/ And it was a delicate snort to declare her victory, if it had been "I didn't think so at all." you could have kicked her in the shin.

lol...nice coin slot!

Happy Blogiversary! I swear I've known you longer than two years. Anyway, your blog doesn't look a day over one year.

happy anniversary! You should have told them that the police weren't supposed to have released the photos yet.

If you're not famous, you should be. Not that I believe you. I think you're famous.

Happy blogiversary, Meno! My 2-year one was June 13th, but I missed it. We're practically twins, but I'm the tall one, of course.

meno said...

peevish, well, i used to visit the chiropractor for the first cousin of the man who's daughter's first husband's uncle had a dog that was groomed by the same lady who clipped the hair of Tony Danzo's housekeeper's pomeranian.

scott, um, butt not this butt crack.

ttq, i was once shopping with Em for jeans and she came out and said "These look okay." I asked her to try sitting in them, which she did, and then shot into the fitting room to get rid of them as half her ass was hanging out.

nancy, i should have put a dime in there.

etk, it's never too late to say nice things about me.

em, that MUST be it. I know i'm a big hit among the teenage set.

lu, :) Thank you sweetie!

vanessa, thank you!

say it, the list of things i wish i'd said is getting longer by the hour.

hearts, i always wanted to be tall! What's it like? :)

Congratz on the 2fer!
Oh you should have SO said "Yes I am! Would you like an autograph? Who should i make it out to and how would you like me to sign it?" I would have had to play along just to find out who they thought I was lol.

Joan said...

Happy blogiversary. Of course you're famous...look how many of us keep coming here to read all about your wonderfully irreverant life. :~)

Tink said...

I would have been like, "Yeah, I'm famous for kicking some teenage girl's ass. But I'm all better now that I'm on meds. Wait... Did I take my meds this morning?"

Happy Blogiversary!!

Jonas said...

I, for one, am famous the world over for NOTHING!

I have to disagree with TTQ. I like the low-rise jeans. At first, I hated them, but when I find out that with low rise, I am a size 6 (but with highrise, a size 10) I fell in love. :)
Hey, congrats on your Bloggiversary!! I, for one, am thrilled to have benefited :)
