An "I Love Lucy" moment

* This picture was taken about a half an hour after i stopped the dishwasher and finished mopping up the floor, when i had regained my sense of humor and determined that this was funny.

I am lucky enough to be able to pay someone else to clean my house. Sometimes i wonder if it's really a good idea though.

I came home about 15 minutes after they had finished cleaning, and found suds frothing forth from the dishwasher, which was running.

Yep, they had decided to run the dishwasher with dish washing liquid.

It wasn't even full!!!

*******************************

I just popped my Craig's list cherry! I sold Em's old twin bed frame for $40! I am so excited that i think i'll list The Mister's car. Shhhh. Don't tell him, it's a secret. Won't he be surprised!

I did that once, the dish soap in the dish washer, when I was about 13. I had to mop it up myself though.

You know, I would sorta assume that if you were paying someone to clean your house, they would know not to do that...

It's good that you can laugh about it though.

We sold one of our kayaks on CL. We got a buncha weirdos before we finally got someone who was serious. One dude wanted to know if he could come over at 4:30 AM to look at it.

OH NO, he won't notice a thing!

Aw, cherry popping good. Congratulations.

Ok, the suds made me laugh, but only because it's not my floor.

I saw that coming a mile away..reason I knew? I put dishwashing liquid in the dishwasher once after a party I threw while Mom was gone out of town. The kitchen was never cleaner! Hence turning on the trouble meter. Then she decided that nobody had been hurt and it looked like the cleaning lady had been there 24/7..She started leaving me at home alone more often.

I guess that I've been lucky enough to not do that with the dish washer. There is a difference in the soaps, huh. Good to know.

I sold my Nissan pickup on Craig's List a couple of years ago. The price is right for the service.

Thank goodness our dishwasher is broken. It's just the thing I can see myself doing in a moment of idiocy.

And congrats on your Craig's List sale! I'm sure you have lots of plans for the $$.

i'm going to have to mull this over.

Back in the college days we used regular dishwashing soap many time in the machine and only a few times had some suds peek out. But yeah, that thing isn't even CLOSE to being full.

Congrats on the Craigslist! My favorite thing to read is always best of craigslist. Good stuff there.

PS -Mirin is sweetened rice wine. I am sure it is in the "ethnic" aisle by the soy sauce.

marsha, and i had to mop this up myself too.

fiwa, i assumed that too. We were wrong. That's crazy about the 4:30am dude. What an idiot!

maggie, that's what i thik too! Think how proud he'll be of me!!!!

ttq, your mom is a smart woman. Cheap house cleaning!

dick, well, you could always try it and see. :)

joan, i bought us pizza for dinner with it. Easy come, easy go.

brad, so, you think he'll mind? Hmmmm.

jen, what's to think about? It's all good.

I own BOTH of those white bowls...wait...are you secretly ME???

If you are listing Mister's car for $40, I'll take it. Also, it would be a great reason to go to the PacNW, to drive it home.

But the white dishes & the white suds make such a nice photo. That doesn't happen when you use the stuff meant for the machine. Art knows no boundaries. But I would have been pissed about the 2/3 empty machine.

And sopping up the floor after it has already been cleaned isn't the worst. What i really hate is when I haven't had the time to clean/sweep/vac the floor for days and days and days and then a huge accident occurs, or barfing incident, what have you and not only does the mess have to be cleaned up but there is a ton of hair and dust....ewww.

Wonder what you'll find next time. Hope this doesn't turn into a regular feature...

Just don't list The Mister.

That's a good name for a novel though - Listing the Mister. Assonance and all that.

I want to buy some of your stuff of off Craigslist. Give me a heads up yo.

Dishwashers are fun until they go sudsy on you. I miss Lucile Ball.

qt, that's what really pised me off! Why would they run it when it was over half empty. What a waste. And i even have some mirin, but it's called "Sweetened Rice Vinegar" :)

flutter, I Love Lucy is alive and well at your house too. :)

mrs. chili, perfect!

furious, oh, they'll be the first to go!

mona, i think it must be true. I like white dishes.

peevish, you should come here anyway. It's nice.

de, yes, i have cleaned up that sort of floor mess too. One time SOMEONE broke a dozen eggs on the floor. Ick.

clowncar, Hmmmm. List the Mister?? There's a thought.

egan, what do you want? We have bedroom furniture, A large Love Sac (it's a chair, i swear it) two kayaks, a computer desk with a bookshelf over it, printers, scanners, coffee tables, small round tables.....

egan said...

Damn, you're not kidding. Are you really parting with all of this? I might have to swing by because about half the stuff listed interests me.

If you weren't so far away I'd make an offer on a kayak...'cause cats dig open water.

I had a Lucy moment once, it involved a mixer, a jet engine setting, and three and a half cups of plain flower. Eventually there were cookies. Cookies correct all of life's tiny transgressions. Right?

Does that mean that your floor was extra-specially clean? As far as your husbands car...your secret is safe with me...I'll never tell him:~)

And LOLOLOL @ Mr...

Love the photo.

You've given my an idea. Maybe I could list my husband's 1969 912 Porsche. What do you think?

Oh brother. That sounds like the time my Step Dad got a package of meat delivered and decided to dispose of the dry ice in the sink. The fog/steam/liquid oozed out and over the counter, down the floor and into the livingroom. My Mom was cleaning the film up for days.

Round these parts we don't run the dishwasher until we absolutely cannot cram a single item more into it.

Though I'd be thrilled to have a cleaning lady, I don't deny it. thrilled! I spent the entire day yesterday removing every one of my books and record albums from their shelves in the living room and cleaning and dusting each item before replacing them back on their shelves. My sinuses are still clogged from all the dust but my living room sparkles like a dream today. I guess I shouldn't wait three years again to do that, huh?

Uhm, I did this once at Irrelephant's house because he was out of dishwashing detergent. Yeah. I did.

ETK said...

Awww - you would really think that they'd know better right?

Seriously - CL ROCKS! We basically sold everything we owned before we moved into our condo on CL and it rocked that we didn't have to move all that heavy ass ugly furniture down those 3 flights of stairs. :)

Vanessa said...

Can't wait to hear his response when he finds out!

heartinsanfrancisco said...

Do it. He'll be so happy when he sees you in all the cool stuff you bought with his car money.

Every time I have advertised on CL, I got weirdos and nutjobs. I'm pretty sure there's a policy, all nutjobs all the time.
