Two things

I was tagged for this Two Things meme by WNG over at A Whole New G.

(two names you go by) Mommy and Meno

(two things you are wearing right now) Carhartt work pants and Satsuma fucking Body Butter

(two things you would want (or have) in a relationship) Trust and Humor.

(two of your favorite things to do) read outdoors sitting in the shade when it's hot and snorkel in warm water with many fish.

(two things you want very badly at the moment) Willpower and a cookie.

(two pets you had/have) Bucko Photon Uberkatt, Intrepid Space Wanderer and Intergalactic Soldier of Fortune and Boots.

(two people you think will fill this out)
Patches and Liv.

(two things that you did last night) Cooked a meal and finished a book

(two things you ate today) Brown Rice Spicy Tuna Roll and a Coconut Chocolate Chip Cookie.

(two people you last talked to) my friend Matt and my daughter Em

(two things you're doing tomorrow) riding my bike and cooking something new. (Got a recipe for Spicy Garbanzo Bean Soup that sounds tasty. I will have to go to the store and buy something called 'fenugreek seeds.')

(two longest car rides) Oh hell, when we were kids my parents drove us across the entire country, more than once, for FUN.

(two favorite holidays) I swear that nothing comes to mind. I find most holidays annoying and resent the expectations they engender. Bah! Humbug!

(two favorite beverages) Merlot and Champagne.

(two people no longer alive who you'd like to talk to) My grandmother on my mother's side, i'd like to tell her off to her face for being a total bitch, and my grandmother on my dad's side, because i never got to really talk to her and she had an interesting life. For example, she lost one leg when she was 11 or so, running behind the ice truck, and she went on to marry twice, have twins, walk, play tennis, etc. I can remember sitting at her feet and knocking on her legs to see which one was real. She thought that was funny.

Willpower and a cookie--I hear that!

And I know this is going to sound really strange, but everytime I look at your header --the whatever guy- I see Keifer Sutherland. Is it just me?

Sober Briquette said...

And I thought this was a gimme because it only required 2 things.

This is a new and interesting one, although I don't like the car ride question for some reason. Maybe too many long car rides? Too few?

I lift my afternoon glass of champagne to you.

Sober Briquette said...

Oh, Diane, thanks for asking that question. It's gotta be.

if you just take all the bolded words you almost (almost, people) have an entirely new strain of thought. or i'm strained. whatever.

and yes on the Kiefer.

Mrs. Chili said...

I LOVE that you'd bring someone back to tell them off. You're my kinda gal - yet another reason I like you!

capacious said...

Kiefer! Yes! Always! Thank you for articulating that.

That Wooden Leg Grandma sounds nice. Knock knock! Who's there? Wooden Leg Grandma! Wooden Leg Grandma Who? How many Wooden Leg Grandmas do you have?

Oh man, I digressed.

Jennifer said...

Yeah, the willpower and a cookie one, add my tick mark beside that one.

Pants and body butter might be my second favorite response, behind the final one, however. And I have no idea why, exactly.

thailandchani said...

Oh, yes.. I would bet your grandmother had an interesting story to tell! I wish you could have talked with her, too.

QT said...

OMG - I am loving anne's wooden leg grandma knock-knock joke!

And does the body butter induce fucking? I may need to get my hands on some...

The next time I see you, I'm habing Champagne, too.

Gordo said...

Knocking on your grandma's leg is classic! I know mine would have found that funny.

meno said...

diane, yeah, it is Keifer, he and i go way back. *ahem*

de, champagne all around sister! Too many long car rides for me too, wedged into the middle of the back seat between my two older brothers. Yuck.

jen, i went back and read just the bold words. I think you are either brilliant, or on drugs. :)

mrs. chili, thank you. I was too young to do it when she was alive. But i'd sure like to tell her now.

anne, excellent. Maybe needs to end with "Wooden you like to know?" or some such.

jennifer, a dichotomy i know. But i love cookies.

chani, i bet she did too, and she might have shed some light on my dad and his sister too.

qt, honey, the next time we are together, we are having champagne for sure, and i'm even buying!

Alli said...

I bet you smell effing good! :) Gaw, I love that Satsuma body butter.

LOVE YOUR PETS NAMES! Can you es-plain their names to us?

liv said...

oh yeah? i'll do this while patches dry humps my leg, woman. and while sipping champagne, i'll whisper to patches that i perhaps know another name that you are called. heh.

patches said...

Dry humping is a plebeian activity reserved for neanderthal puppies and fraternity pledges.

As for the meme, you are correct. I am nothing if not a creature of habit, results forthcoming.

tt said...

Um,fenugreek??? I'd be scared.
You're brave

flutter said...

I need all of the things you ate today. MmmMmMmmmmmMmmmm carboooohhhyyyyddrraaaaatttteeesssss

I can never resist cookies or champagne, and good on you for wanting to bring back the good and the bad granny.

Maggie said...

Since I read this I've been wandering around saying Bucko Photon Uberkatt. It has such a great ring to it. Oh and I can't stop thinking about chocolate chip cookies either.

furiousBall said...

ahh ha! liv taqged me. so like in Outbreak, I think I've identified you as the monkey that started it all. Oh wait, looks like you were tagged by WNG... crap wrong monkey.

Daphne said...

You always come up with such good answers. Damn it I want to be as interesting as you! I bet you're a lot like your grandma(the one with one leg), but doubly so...

By the way have you been watching "Torchwood"? It's a take off of the new "Doctor Who" but with grit and without the tongue and cheek approach. I seem to recall you being a sci-fi fan.

peevish said...

That grandmother on your Dad's side, she sounds amazing. I'd like to talk with her, too.

Joan said...

Brown rice spicy tuna roll and a chocolate chip cookie...yep, that's the perfect meal for me. Ummm...what's willpower?

Casdok said...

I also liked the who would you like to talk to question! And the answer!

Bob said...

so the trip to san diego was craptastic, eh?

my daughter and my wife got to name all of the cats we've had. I always suggested Mephistopheles and no one went for it.

Nancy Dancehall said...

I see the cookie won. You chose wisely.

Damn, I should overnight you some fenugreek seeds. Hard little fothermuckers. Watch your teeth.

Anne made me laugh. Thanks, Anne!

meno said...

gordo, i always think of her when i think about being "handicapped" and then i feel better.

alli, i do smell good, but it's quite strong. Well, Boots is pretty self-explanatory, the other one the Mister and i had a great time making up.

liv, i'll send you $5 if you don't tell.

patches, i knew you would be too refined to do such a thing, the dry humping i mean, not the meme.

tt, it's easy to be brave when i don't even know what the hell it is.

flutter, now you are talking my language.

sally, maybe i could have The Battle of the Grannies! Bet i could sell tickets.

maggie, i know, it is fun to say. Sorry about the cookie craving, they're my only (cough) weakness.

furious, in the book Snow Crash, the author posits that religion is a virus. But memes and religion are more like chain letters, you can choose not to have them.

daphne, that's nice of you to say, because today i had an experience where i felt boring and invisible. I'll check into Torchwood, never heard of it.

peevish, i think she might have been pretty amazing, but i was quite young when she died. Alas.

joan, i obviously have no idea!

casdok, thanks. If only....

bob, San Diego was great. It was sunny, and that's all i required. I love the name Mephistopheles! I just don't know how to spell it.

nancy, cookies. I am weak. The seeds are supposed to be toasted first, maybe that softens them up. i dunno.

Lynn said...

Are you allowed to use the words 'willpower' and 'cookie' in the same sentence?

heartinsanfrancisco said...

Your grandmother awes me. The leg grandmother, not the bitch one.

It's always amazing how much some people can accomplish without self-pity awhile others are unable to function unless all the signs are right.

amusing said...

Fascinating. I wrote "Honesty and Humor" as my two things -- and I promise I had not even read yours first so there wasn't even a subconscious motivation to copy.

Now I am contemplating the similarities and differences between the inherent understandings of the words "TRUST" and "HONESTY"

WNG said...

Yea Meno! Soory it tooke me so long to get over here and read it, but great answers!
