The Things We Do for Love

I love my daughter. Now i have proof of that love that no one can deny.

Last night i committed this act of pure love:

Yes. Yes i did. I took Em to see the American Idols Live! show. (I apologize for the crappy picture, but it was DARK in there.)

I expected there to be much merchandising and tackiness and sales pitches, but i never expect it to be as much as it is. There was even an intermission so they could make us listen to pitches for more sponsors.

You can see by the ticket that the event was sponsored by Pop Tarts. So naturally there was a person dressed as a Pop Tart milling around. I did not take a picture of the giant Pop Tart because too many other people were and i didn't want to give the Pop Tart the satisfaction. That'll teach it!

I spent some time amusing myself with my camera and was able to add to my collection of ass cracks in public photography collection.

Yes, of course you can see:

In all honesty, i must admit that i enjoyed the show. These kids can really sing.

But the best part was listening and watching Em have so much fun. She sang along, she screamed, she clasped her hands to her bosom in happiness. She held up her cell phone so that her friends could "hear" their favorite songs. She chattered 50 miles an hour the whole way home. It was great

ok, I really do like david Cook....

but um am I the only one that finds american idol being sponsored by pop-tarts kind of funny?

Oh, my! I'm on a contact high! I feel as giddy as though I've eaten a box of poptarts!

Asscracks!
Giant poptarts!

And, judging by the pics of the poptstars(that's poptarts rearranged) apparently you had awesome seats, mom!

Isn't it wonderful to be able to make someone twirl with joy? Yay.

ohhhhhhh can I call ya ma? :)

I really like those kids on American Idol. Every year we say we gotta go watch them in Portland or somewhere, but we never did. Maybe one of these years we will. Who knows? :)

I think you could do a post modern exhibit of ass cracks as metaphor for something or other.

you showed a deep and true love.

that seems sort of fun. I'm going to see the Radio City Rockettes in November. I dunno...

I'll be damned! Jason Castro can stand up...

I once went to a Ricky Martin concert but I think you have me beat. I love the ass crack collection!

QT said...

And you had to go to TACOMA for it, too~ that is the love of a mother....

PS - I was unaware that the asscrack photos had been assembled into a collection. Perhaps you need to start a flickr account for those.

Qt is right - Tacoma, man that is a sacrifice.

It still amazes me, after having known you blogically (made it up) for what? two years, what an awesome mother you are.

Then again, maybe you're just doing the fart blame game - maybe you secretly wanted to go to the concert and ogle the cute boys and Em was an easy excuse. Nah.

As for the ass crack pictures, I think a collection of those would make a great coffee table book don't you?

How can it be sponsored by pop tarts, when all the performers are pop tarts? It doesn't make sense to sponsor yourself.

That ass crack is just way too close, I feel like I can almost see the asshole, although it's only my imagination but nobody needs to see that. Nobody.

As for the American Idols, I love listening to them sing. Don't know if I could stand the advertising though. You're a better woman than I.

QT mentioned ass crack photos and flickr. I checked and there is indeed an ass crack group, more than one. What's more screwed up? That there are these groups or that I bothered to look?

meno said...

flutter, do not tell anyone, but i think David Cook is pretty cool too. And no, you are NOT the only one.

daisy, the twirling was worth all the hassle.

mother hen, there were TONS of little kids and moms and dads there. They were om Portland the night before Tacoma. You should go.

crazymumma, the ass crack as metaphor for not caring how you are perceived by other people?

de, I was fun. I am big enough to admit that. The Rockettes! Cool.

woman, just after this he collapsed back onto his stool. :)

marsha, Ricky Martin???? I am shocked SHOCKED i tell you.

qt, i know, Tacoma. You know, it doesn't smell any more. And see deb's comment below about ass crack groups.

maggie, You are so great, i just love you. Yeah, that was it. The cute guys were my real reason. You know me so well.

ms. chica, the irony was not lost on me. Next up, the ass crack group sponsored by Crack Hos.

deb, keep it covered dude. I agree. I am too afraid to go and check out that flickr group. Thank you for the research. You took one for the team.

There is the title of a poem there...."Didn't want to give the poptart the satisfaction."

If you could someday post your entire asscrack collection...oh that'd be stellar.

My sister used to work at a rental yard, and they did an ass crack series (not only employees, but men coming in to rent big stuff. It was not done on digital, though.

I am almost jealous of your Idol attendance. Way too many screaming teen girls go to those things. What kind of nut brings a teen age girl?

Talk about taking one for the team! Idols and cracks, you are braver than I.

Oh. My. God. You saw Jason Castro IN PERSON! How did he do? Did he sing well? Was he cute? Were the girls with the butt cracks going crazy for him?

You know, I am in love with Jason and if I weren't twice as old as him (or married with 4 kids) I would totally be following that tour around the country, until our eyes lock, he'd fall in love with me too and we'd live happily ever after:)

There is nothing better than a happy child chattering away, loving you for loving them enough to give into their desire over our own. Meno rocks as ever!

The butt crack thing totally grosses me out. There needs to be a whole series done with girls on bikes with butt-crackitis.

Now you have proven your love and can lean back for the rest of your life. Um. At least the music was good. And Em enjoyed the show.

meno said...

imez, i'm no poet, so i give you leave to write the poem. Someday i will post my entire ass crack collection. Think of the google hits THAT will bring!

scott, too bad they aren't digital! The majority of the people there were older. Thanks for the video!!!!

sally, i swear we find ourselves doing things we never thought we would. Kids!

tracy, he was GREAT! Seriously. I think he has gained a lot of comfort in performing. He was cute. He IS cute.

lu, feel free to start your own series!

susanne, the music was good. It's the rest of it that sucked.

Good Lord - Am I seeing that tick price correctly ? $67.50 to see the Idol kids ? Yikes !

Love the ass crack photo. You should have a gallery showing.

peevish said...

I agree with brad, and am always up for more ass cracks, please. I'm glad there is someone out there documenting this insanity for posterity, or posteriorarity, or something.

p.s. You are an awesome Mom.

Princess in Galoshes said...

GAH! That was more upper-ass than I had expected for a Monday morning. Yech.

You are a good mother.

Candy said...

This is a tough precedent to be setting for the rest of us moms yaknow. I'm not taking my daughter to see them, even though she thinks David Cook is one step away from ringing our front door and asking her to marry him.

We're all big American Idol fans here but we went to see the play of High School Musical a few weeks ago so we're all teened out in these parts.

I am glad the word "bosom" is making a comeback.

sari said...

Hello? Were you close enough there? Those are some pretty close pictures!

Good Mommy! Fetch!

ETK said...

My life is now complete. hahaha re the asscrack. :)

Cheesy said...

Ha! I knew Scott would be jealous! How FUN!

meno said...

brad, yeah, love isn't cheap!

peevish, love the new word. Posteriorarity. Yep, it works.

princess, sorry. But there it was, right in front of me, in all its ass-cracked glory. What cousd i do?

candy, yeah! Try and top THAT! Ha! I win.

pat, how could you not?? So keep your ass-crack covered.

sari, my husband did the HSM thing with Em. It was my turn. I think i got the better deal. We had pretty good seats. Bosom buddies?

ttq, *pant pant pant* Grrrr!

etk, i'll try and record more over the years. You should try it too. Please?

cheesy, that Scott is a big sweetie. Did you know they were in Portland the night before this?

Diane Mandy said...

Now that's what I call love! But I am glad you managed to have a good time.

Mona Buonanotte said...

You deserve a medal, m'dear. That and a huge margarita.

Ortizzle said...

Yeah, the best part was definitely your daughter's enjoyment. BUT... (BUTT?) that photo of the butt crack is prize-winning. Keep up the good wise-cracks, lol.

Clowncar said...

I've never seen a single American Idol (not a TV snob, just never been interested). I did go to a Counting Crows concert once. I was me, my date, and 10,000 screaming 12-year-old girls. So I can probably relate.

Enjoyed the coin slot shot, though.

meno said...

diane, i did have fun, but i do NOT want to admit that. What if they come back?

mona, i'll drink to that!

ortizzle, i'm on a crusade with the exposed butt pictures!

clowncar, i am a TV snob. But i also have a teenager who looks at me with her big eyes and says "mommy will you watch American Idol with me." Resistance is futile.
