Wretched Excess 1 and 2

1) I rarely watch TV (Sometimes i watch the Daily Show and The Colbert Report) and I make clam dip once a year.

Tonight i am going to wallow unabashedly in both these things. I will take my clam dip and potato chips, get my jammies on and sit in front of the TV to watch the Oscars. This year Em will be joining me. You should join us too. Come on, it'll be fun. Even the Mister will participate. I make great clam dip.

Last year was cursed; there i was with my bowl of dip and eagerly awaiting the glitz feeding frenzy to come. Our cable chose that moment to go out. So there i was, all dressed down, with my bowl of pure artery clogging happiness and no where to go. Sadness. I felt like i had been stood up for a date. I hope this year is not a repeat

To me the best part of watching the Oscars is reading the recaps the next day. I'm excited.

2) Yesterday the Mister and i went to a fancy pants linen place and bought two sets of outrageously expensive sheets. No, i am not going to tell you how much. I slept naked last night.

But you didn't write down the recipe for the clam dip...

Jim and I have had a date night reserved for this evening for two weeks. I nearly cancelled this morning when I realized it was Oscars night. I'm imagining us rushing through our shots of Maker's Mark and steaks to get home in time for the festivities. Or maybe it'll be on in a sport's bar somewhere... hot date - I know.

It's rare that Missus Chica can bear sitting through an entire awards show. She gets the Monday a.m. recap. I bet the clam dip would completely change her mind about the oscars. Then again, she's probably just bitter after being forced to sit through Miss America.

Naked sheets are amazing but, I always sleep naked on the bed, on the couch, the kitchen chair, and in the hall...

OHo! I love clam dip. With chips is great, but also with fritos. I usually indulge in the summer.

Well, it's about to start here and Tony said something about the hot tub... Augh!

I wouldn't even know the actors or the movies, it's been so long since I've been to a movie theatre. We might watch a movie tonight, but it's one that been out for several years, I imagine I'll watch one from this year's crop several years from now. Hope you enjoy your evening.

Given your "I Love Lunch" post, you are one brave woman to sleep in your birthday suit...

I only wear pj's when I'm sick because they get all bunched up, which my skin does not, and that's all I'm going to say about that.

Happy clam dip!

Oooohhh...I just love sleeping on fresh new linen. Unfortunately, our last set came from a Big Box Warehouse and it's not the kind you'd want to sleep on without something in between. I'm jealous.

New linen is always great but I'd never have the nerve to sleep naked. (You know, fire and all... and no one would want to see my undressed ass, no matter how tolerant they might think they are... :)

Okay. What's the recipe for the clam dip?

Peace,

~Chani

caro, no secret, it's kind of free form. Equalish parts of mayo, cream cheese and sour cream (adjust to your taste) a couple of cans of chopped clams, some chopped up little green onions, some worcestershire sauce, some salt. Sometimes i'll add some curry. You know, whatever.....

mignon, ah, you'll be able to read all about it in the morning anyway. Enjoy the date!

patches, it's rare that i can bear it either. I am multitasking to avoid boredom. Miss America? Ick! If i was covered in fur i would sleep naked everywhere too.

de, fritos? I'll have to try that. Yum.

shara, i haven't seen that many of them, i just like the spectacle.

liv, 1) yep! 2) yeah!

lynn, Em has seen naked people in her house before, But i still don't want her to catch me with....well, you know!

hearts, i get too cold in the winter, but in the summer....

joan, me too. It took me a long time to find these. They are made from beechwood. How weird is that?

chani, see my comment to caro for the recipe, such as it is. You could sleep with a robe next to the bed. :)

Guess I need to go for the recap since, well, I totally missed it.

I missed the Grammys too, and was really bummed when I found out a friend of mine had won for a song he wrote with the Dixie Chicks.

I did not make it thru the entire Oscars, with my weird schedule I avoid late Sunday nights. Sleeping in the buff.. simple pleasures of life.

I've never bought Ridiculous sheets, but I have bought what I would be considered "expensive". The problem is, once you go that route, there is NO turning back. It totally turns you into a Sheet Snob. But damn, don't you sleep better? :-)

We got our first set of high-thread-count egyptian cotton sheets a few months ago and were immediately in heaven. You'd think that working for a company that makes the damned things we'd be swimming in them, but even with an employee's (excuse me, associate's discount I can't afford the really good stuff. The ones we bought were already marked down to 1/2 off, and with the discount we talked ourselves into it.

There will be more......(after I sell a kidney or so)

I missed it. I hadn't really thought about TV till yesterday and the Oscars and having a giant bowl of seasoned popcorn and a soda and comfy cozy jammies on...

About the sheets - this year I splurged on some expensive Egyptian cotton sheets and glory be the luxury! You just have to sleep naked in sheets like those. So I hear ya.

I love how you just throw the "I slept naked last night" line out there. Sounds like something I would do. If you bought sheets at The Love Boutique, you're too cool for me.

meno said...

sally, i felt them at the linen shop and it was all over for me. Fresh clams would probably be better anyway.

alphawoman, one advantage of being on the West coast is that it's over by 9 or so. Even i can stay up that late.

lucia, eh, it's really not important, in the cosmic scheme of things. That's cool about your friend.

sanjay, sleeping naked, like swimming naked, is one of the best things.

cagey, that's right, you are trapped for life. I'm ready! :)

bob, see? They are so worth it, especially considering the amount of time spent between them. Good for you!

maggie, i thought about you the other day when i made popcorn but i wanted something sweet on it. Any suggestions? The sheets are the best aren't they?

egan, well you know, i just couldn't bring myself to separate my body from those sheets. They are not from the Love Boutique, sorry.

Oh! I so would have prefered to watch the Oscars with you and your clam dip than my neighbor and her friends from church and their veggie dip! Next year? ;-)

Satin? Silk? Well, whatever, a splurge is needed every now and then and as L'Oreal says, "You're worth it!"

Mmmm - I love clam dip. And I also love me some high thread count sheets. It is true that once you have some, that is all you want.

Oooohhh. New sheets. Mmmm. What was the thread count?!

meno said...

princess, next year for sure. We had major girl time as the Mister got bored and wandered off after about 15 minutes.

moi, neither, they are made from beechwood, like tencel, only softer.

qt, you are right, we are irredeemably spoiled now.

ortizzle, they don't seem to have a thread count, i looked. I just took one feel of them and it was all over.
