The Pity Party

A new restaurant opened near us a while ago. So we went there to check it out. When we got there, the gaggle of hostesses at the door asked me for a last name.

I looked around at the mostly empty restaurant, and then looked back at the girl, wondering why she needed my last name. "Smith," i told her.

We were seated, and when our waiter approached the table he said "So, how is the Smith party today?"

"AHA!" i said, suddenly understanding the request for the last name.

The waiter looked slightly embarrassed, telling us that the management requires them to do this.

The Mister decided that now that we know this, we are going to have some fun with it.

"Donner!" i cried.
"Grandold," chimed in the Mister.
"Pitti," i added.
"Tupperware?" says Em.

I am so ready for the next time we go there. Got any more for me?

Well, I'm guessing it must have been a decent restaurant, if you're planning to go back. Because I know you wouldn't go back for bad food just to have fun at their expense.

What about the last name 'Bater' and then when they ask how the Bater party is doing you can turn to your husband can say 'Master Bater how are you doing today?" (how juvenile is that?) or if that one is too complicated, what about O'Verdehill?

My parents use both their first and last names. They are the Kings, Joe and Faye.

And I am their daughter, Lee.

Hmmm that is rather odd... then again it sounds very American to me ... we get that kinda stuff but not to such extremes (set phrases must be used etcetc ..) Richard Branston tried to set up Virgin record shops in Germany and basically gave up when the staff refused to wear uniform teeshirts .. europeans are so much more individualistic than Brits or Americans... also they do not have bars with names like "Hooters" .. .ahem ..! Anyway nice to drop by I come via a friend of a friend of yours ... if you wanna come by mine you're most welcome: gledwood2.blogspot is the place to be ... see you there hopefully (say hi if you come) all the best
