Things there not here

Things in Ohio, not in Washington;

Fields of grasses...
Wonderful old barns...

Soybeans...
Road kill. (lucky for you, no picture)

Teasels... (i don't know if that's what this is, but that's what i want to call it.)

Corn... (okay, there is corn here, but there is LOTS of corn there.)

Tent caterpillars... (again, no picture because they creep me out.)

CRICKETS! I love that noise they make at night.

Em...

WOW, the room... I mean, all the stuff. My goodness, after all these years, I finally realize why all my roommates in college thought I was homeless, for I only had two suitcases and a $2 lamp! Oh man, what have I missed?!!!

There are no crickets in WA? That's a serious flaw.

And the shambles that is that room? Why, I think I'd rather see roadkill.

Glad she's deposited, safe & sound.

Jeez, that's a student room and a half. What IS all that stuff? And just out of curiosity, what're all those pipes across the ceiling?

Great pics. I love the sound of crickets as well.

Except for Em, those things are in Kansas as well!

I love, love the sight of an old barn. Sigh.

Send me your mailing address and I'll send you a box of crickets. They sell them at the pet store for lizard food. ;-)

Those bars are great!

Yes, she's there not here, but she knows how to use a phone (unlike the crickets...)

clowncar, she's a picture-phobe, and i understand that because i am too.

flutter, i know!

mother hen, Em has a $10 lamp, but it has two lights.

de, it's a shambles because she's just movng in....

nick, bedding, clothes, books, cleaning supplies.... junk.

cagey, this was the first time i was able to stop and photograph them. There are SO MANY!

gordo, we used to buy crickets for a gecko. At night, they would sing in the cage. I loved it, *crunch*

mrs. chili, and she knows how to text message and IM!

The 4th pic of the barn is seriously inspiring glass windows without the distraction on actual walls. I love country minimalism.

I love the barn shots

I didn't think anyone else appreciated the sound of crickets at night, I find it very soothing

when we moved to nawth calina from ohio, I never even thought about the bagworms, the crickets and roadkill, because we have all of that stuff here. we don't, however, have the soybeans (tobacco here, no corn) or teasels. I learned as a kid that pioneer women used teasels to comb their hair. so, I had to try it. my mama had to cut my hair to get the tangles out...stupid teasel!

is it a little easier to leave her this time around?

Wonderful photographs. And Em looks so very happy and excited. (Sigh.) Don't cry, Mommy. She'll be on the phone every time anything at all happens, just to hear your voice.

Aw, Em. Aw, Meno.

We have crickets, but what I really miss are lightning bugs.
