Freeze Frame

It's been cold around here lately. Verry cold. Colder than a witches ......

fountain! Yeah, a witches fountain.

We went to visit our recently vacated house on Saturday. While driving down the driveway i noticed that there was water seeping out from under the garage doors.

Note to self: This is a bad sign.

There was a new water feature at our house!

And like Mrs Piggle-Wiggle's upside down house, the garage ceiling was on the garage floor!

What i enjoyed the most about this is that the big fluorescent lights that were hanging down, still worked.

What i enjoyed the least is that the water had gotten into the house and ruined some of the flooring in the dining room.

But hey, that's what insurance is for, right?

On a different note, i'm going to have to put word verification on here for a little while. I apologize for that, but some damned ad-bot program is leaving me little presents on all my old posts and i weary of deleting them.

There's a special place in hell for spammers, right next to John Wilkes Booth.

That's why I have the dreaded word verification, too. They pooped on so many of my old posts that it was maddening to go back and delete them.

Sorry about your old house. Got out just in time, eh?

Small price to pay for being a part of your world ;-D

That's a bit of a mess. Are you saying you're still liable for sorting out the damage or is it now someone else's business? Still, as you say, the insurance should cover it.

Spam was the reason for my putting in the word check too. Nasty little termites.

At least you're not living there. It looks like a mess.

Yucky bummer.

About the spammers - I changed my comment settings so I have to approve comments on older posts - you can pick how how old. It's helped.

jeez. I think the house is trying to tell you something.

Wow. That sucks. I have no idea why I cannot get it out of my head that you live in San Diego. I am dork.

Oh no! I had nightmares about that very thing happening to our old house.

Those spammers, John Wilkes booth, and whoever invented Bratz dolls.

Glad your insurance will pay for water damage. I don't think ours will :(

I hear you on the spammers I have been getting them on old posts too. I hope it warms up soon.

hearts, hey look at magpie's suggestion. I'm going to try that.

luckyzmom, that is true. Good to be reminded though.

nick, after our deductible, the insurance will pay for the clean up and damage.

deb, i know, we moved right in time!

scott, yep. Frozen and burst.

sucking, you do feel me. Sucks don't it?

magpie, i didn't know that! Thanks for the suggestion, will implement right away.

bob, "come back! don't leave me...."

suebob,right about now i wish i did.

clowncar, yeah. It went undiscovered for at least a day. Shit!

norm, god knows i have paid them enough money over the years.

marsha, did you see magpie's suggestion? That should help.

I've done like Magpie suggested and it really helps. You can set it to where any comment on a post older than, say, a week or two, has to be approved by you. You'll get an email when they are put into Blogger and then can either approve or deny it. Works great. The current posts are pretty easy to keep up with, but I also like to have all comments sent to me via email.

Did you see on the news about that fairly new apartment complex down in Kent that had something like 43 broken pipes in the ceilings of the place? There apparently was no insulation put on those pipes and they were just in the crawl space- unheated.

Wow, Meno, that's just not fun. And water damage and insurance, pain in the ass. We had a drain problem in the shower of our old house and when we went to buy this house (that we've lived in for about 7 years, it's not new) our insurance company dropped us because of the water claim. At least you've already moved!

I guess I don't look at my older posts from more than a week or so - I have no idea if I get any comments on old ones or not. Hmmm......

Wow, good thing you decided to do that drive-by!

Are your spammers Russian like mine?

Meno, what happened? (To the house)??

*Oh shit* comes to mind. Yeah, insurance is good.

Your word verification thingy just at this moment is playing "stoningl* :-)

Which is something, but also my very very favorite xmas carol "Fairytale of New York" Pogues is playing.

It was Christmas Eve babe
In the drunk tank
An old man said to me, won't see another one
And then he sang a song
The rare old mountain Dew
I turned my face away
And dreamed about you

Got on a lucky one
Came in eighteen to one
I've got a feeling
This year's for me and you
So happy Christmas
I love you baby
I can see a better time
When all our dreams come true

They've got cars big as bars
They've got rivers of gold
But the wind goes right through you
It's no place for the old
When you first took my hand
On a cold Christmas Eve
You promised me
Broadway was waiting for me

Sorry about that Meno, but I love it soooooo much, in fact I am going to find that sucker and wack it up!!!

Merry Xmas mate. From Down Under-I was-But now I am UP

Yikes.

This has me worrying again why the water is not working on our refrigerator, although I went down cellar and did a visual on the pipe. The ice works, but not the water, so I just don't drink water.

Merry Christmas, Meno.

Oh my goodness! What a nasty surprise.

Here's hoping the insurance will come through and that you have a wonderful Christmas!

ugh, what a mess! I hope 2010 is better than the end of 2009. and stop feeling guilty about not having your parents over. if they wanted a better relationship with you, they should have made a better effort long ago.
