Have a Seat

I was hanging out with a group of women the other day and one of us was complaining about the spotting issue.

You know, those spots of pee left behind right in front of the toilet for you to step in later.

Apparently pee is damaging to her floors so when she has parties, she patrols the bathroom for mop up detail. She ended by saying that she could tell us which men have the most caustic pee.

Ha ha! We all laughed in commiseration.

Another woman pipes up with, "My husband sits down to pee!"

After thinking, "and wouldn't he be thrilled to know you are telling us all this tidbit?" i let her statement sink in.

I didn't know a man could do that! I mean, i just never even considered it. I got an amusing mental image though.

I mentioned this (somewhat hopefully i admit) to my husband when i got home. He laughed at me and said, "in your dreams!"

Damn!

Why would you sit? Being able to pee while standing is one of they great joys of my life.

I am, admittedly, easily amused.

I met a lady who had five sons and taught them to all sit and pee...smart woman!

I knew a fella who, with his sister, was raised by his single mom. She didn't teach him to stand to pee. He only stands to pee when in the mens room, now. Like you I had never even thought about it.

I used to work with a nurse whose husband was very tall. She made him sit down to pee when they first married, and all her sons did as well. It is possible.

all hail the men of the squatstapee tribe

Apparently men sitting down to pee is very common in Japan. I've never done it myself, but I also take great care not to shower the surrounding area. I've never understood men who either don't notice the mess they make or if they do, they don't bother to clean it up. Men, huh?

clowncar, god knows i would if i could! I'd practice my handwriting.

suebob, wow. I AM impressed. I should have married one of them.

luckyzmom, if i'd had a son, this would not have occurred to me. Smart woman!

deb, my brothers are VERY tall. I'll have to ask them about this.

flutter, ha ha! All hail indeed!

nick, i had no idea. Who says blogging is not educational.

So what's the ambidextrous version of standing most of the time and sitting part of the time?

I've been uh, educated, that post coitus the plumbing make sitting a more controllable option than standing.

Reported downside to sitting is failure to completely empty, possibly leading to UTI

I know I wouldn't sit if I didn't have to!

I just pee in the yard so sitting is not an option due to weak knees...

It is quicker to do standing and what do you think the barn door was designed into men's pants for? Not just to make them easier to put on.

TMI, well, i'll just have to ask about that!

de, really? The things we learn here!

tattyt, me neither. It's boring enough without the extra time to disrobe and rerobe.

scott, ha ha! i somehow suspected that about you!

dick, when i'm hiking i get jealous of you men.

In MY visual, that creates even more of a mess.

Bit late to the party, but you CAN practice your writing, meno. You just need to know where to shop: http://www.mec.ca/Products/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441931845&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302695889&bmUID=1264707993057

You're welcome. ;-)

Whoops. Let's try that again.

My husband sits. He claims it's because he's lazy and that it's easier to sit. Seems counterintuitive to me, but hell.

Hi. I'm Brian and I'm a sitter.

Two birds with one stone, in most cases. But generally only when I'm at home. Out and about, I do it like the big boys . . .

And now that I've shared way too much, I'm outta here!

;-)

I was unaware of this phenomenon until I married my guy. He sits and he has taught the boys here to do the same. He says, anyone who stands has to clean the bathroom! I agree wholeheartedly.

Stucco said...

That's it! I'm going to stand while shitting!

Funny that we spend all that time teaching our young boys to stand and aim, if only we never told them of that option in the first place!

In the Sherman Alexie short story, "Saint Junior" (from The Toughest Indian in the World) the lead character sits down to pee for the first pee of the day. It's a little girly but he does it as a favor for his wife. That first one of the day being the hardest to get your aim right.
