Senior moment

I am one of those people who leaves the shopping cart at the end of the aisle and darts around to get the things to put into it. I think it's faster and i can get around those people who feel the need to stop in the middle of the aisle and ponder the difference between Coke, Diet Coke, Coke Zero, Caffeine-Free Coke, Caffeine-Free Diet Coke, Cherry Coke, Vanilla Coke, Diet Vanilla Coke, Lime Coke, Diet Cherry Coke, Caffeine-Free Diet Cherry Coke, Diet Lime Coke and Classic Coke.

While i wish them well in figuring out which kind of complete crap to drink, i would like them to get the hell out of my way.

I do the same thing at Costco, leave my cart wherever and wend my way through the store like a cat weaving around ankles in a crowded room.

Yesterday i was all done shopping when i headed back to where my cart was waiting.

.

..

...

....

Where did i leave that cart?

Not here. Not here. Let's see, i was near the kegs o' soy sauce when i last saw it, right? Nope.

Fuck!

I spent about 10 minutes trying to find the damn thing and i never did.

I had to start all over.

Next i will be wandering the parking lot at the mall looking for my car all day,

Maybe one of the staff decided it was abandoned and took it away and emptied it. Either that or it got bored and took a trip to Vancouver.

But surely if you're nipping around getting your shopping without the cart, then you'd need a basket to put it all in?

It was confiscated by some junk-food junkie in the throes of shopping cart envy.

I hate using carts. I'll carry a basket with fifteen pounds of produce and bread and eggs in my free hand to avoid using one.

Oh, so that's why there are abandoned carts at the end of aisles! I never thought about doing it that way - what a good idea. Trader Joe's is the WORST for people standing (with their carts) in the middle of the aisle, staring at the shelves. I might have to try that little trick.

I wonder if you left it too long and an employee took it back.

And I have driven my husband's car to the mall, come back hours later and forget and start looking for MY car, panic because I can't find it. I was seconds away from calling the police and reporting it stolen when I realized that car over there looked familiar...

And I'm one of those people who think abandoned carts in the way of my keg of soy sauce are a nuisance so I move them.

nick, I didn't leave it for THAT long!

Donkey Cart, i will have you know that there was NO junk food in that cart! Really! I hate carts too, but at Costco, it's hard to avoid.

furious, oh THANKS for that! If i could catch you i'd whip your ass young 'un.

fiwa, it's good to know that i am not alone. Although calling the police would have made a good story.

I shop just like you! And yes, I have had shop personnel take my cart away thinking it was abandoned.

I do like the newer, smaller carts that most of our stores now seem to have. They are great for those of us in two person households that don't need to shop to feed an army. I especially like the ones that have a mocha cup holder built into them.

this just so gave me insight to you...you kill me

I guess that's the risk you take; even a cat gets stepped on now and then, haha.

Yeah, the soda gazers are the worst.

Maybe another shopper took your cart thinking it was his/hers. That has happened to me when I left mine for a minute, purse and all.

Is it wrong to laugh at seniors?:)

Maybe it wasn't a "senior moment" but maybe you've encountered someone like me, who sees an empty cart at the end of a row and take it! ;-)

I'd be lying if I said I'd never been tempted to do that.

What we need (notice I said we) is something like the luggage tags that are now all different looking so we can find our suitcases. We could attach them to the cart. Come to think of it, you could do that with a luggage tag. Wouldn't carts of all different colors and patterns be cool? and cars too. We just bought a second hand, little box, jello mold gray car. I can NEVER find it in the parking lot. But I'm betting if it were lime green paisley I'd see it.

I shop that way too. After having my cart taken too many times by someone mistaking it for their own or by the staff thinking it was abandoned, I leave my shopping list, sunglasses or some such in the basket and that has pretty much prevented it being taken, but lost, not so much!
