Lying liar

Everything i say is a lie. (Picture exploding computers from old Star Trek episodes.)

I was tagged for this meme by Cat from Princess in Galoshes.

I've made a list of 5 things I've done in my life, one of which is a lie. You get to guess which one is the lie. Please leave your guesses in the comments. I will reveal the truth in a day or so.

1.) I convinced my best friend in the 5th grade to swallow a straight pin. She had to have emergency surgery to remove it, and spent a week in the hospital.

2.) When asked to report on an obscure ethnic poet in the 11th grade, i made up the poet, her life story, and the poems. I got an “A”.
3.) I broke into the pool of a Rotary Club in San Francisco in the middle of the night and went skinny dipping.

4.) I put a whole dead fish underneath the back seat of my brother’s car because i was so angry with him. He had to sell the car.
5.) I sold my first wedding ring to a pawn shop for $11. I told everyone that i had thrown it into a lake.

I am tagging Marsha at Family Adventures and De over at Sober Briquette.

Update: Thanks so much to those of you who sent good thoughts. My friend's father's surgery went well. He should be home in a few days.

#5 is the lie.

If #2 is true, you are my hero forever and ever.

I'll guess #4 is the lie, because: EW, but I really have no idea.

I think #1 is the lie, don't they sort of hope those things pass all the way through?

In reality I am torn, they all seem plausible and I would prefer to sit and talk with you for a few hours over coffee before making my decision. :)

#1 is the lie - only because I would still feel guilty about that today had I done that and I wouldn't wish that on you.

I'm voting number three. Not that you don't seem like you wouldn't but it doesn't sound as much of a leap as the others, and you seem like a leaper.

I'm with Bob- #1.

I'm choosing #1. It's either the lie or it was a pivotal point in your ethical development.

This might take me a few days. I'm a bad liar.

I'm guessing the Rotary club one. I don't believe there's a Rotary Club with a pool anywhere. They're a bunch of cheap old bastards. (Except when they give a bunch of money to Childrens' hospitals and sent me to Japan for 3 months. Other than that, cheap!)

Number 5. Surely you could have gotten more than $11.

I would guess #2. :)It seems a teacher would know how to verify these things.

#2 is waaay to easy to be a lie.

Ummm...how could he sell a car if it smelled so bad?

so #4

I'm guessing #1 is the lie too. You're complicated and adventurous, though, and I wouldn't be surprised if I'm wrong.

My guess is #5, because if you were angry enough to get rid of it, you would probably have been angry enough to do something harsher than pawning it.

I have to say, though, that #1 seems kind of lie-able, too.

I'm guessing #2 is a lie.

I got here through nablopomo randomizer.

i am going w/ five. i sense you are far more passionate than selling the ring permits.

I am with Maggie and Mignon. #3, because it sounds like such an innocent prank to do...and I know you better than that.

I have to go with the fish in the car. The rest I absolutely believe.

#1 is the lie....I can't believe a kid would do that and that they'd operate.

I'm here via the NaBloPoMo randomizer. This is my first time reading you, which makes guessing which is a lie a tad difficult.

I'm going with Number One though, because I can't imagine a 10 year old swallowing a straight pin. OUCH.

I'm going to go with #3 as the lie. no real reason, except it seems very 'Ya-ya' or something that doesn't jive with me.

#3. for the reasons Mignon already gave. (I was an exchange student thanks - yeah, thanks a *lot* - to Rotary International. I know about Rotary. Come to think of it, so does Mignon. yeah. it's DEFINITELY #5.)

awesome list, man.

dude. are my fingers broken? first I say #3, explain my choice, then finish by saying #5? wow. I need sleep worse than I thought.

so. to recap. #3.

geez.

OK, I'm dying to see your next post to find out the answer.

I'm hoping it's number 1, 'cause it's so horrible, but number 5 seems a more likely lie, since a wedding ring is worth more 11 bucks.

I think #1 is the lie but my gut tells me it's #5. So do I get 2 entries? ;-)

I think it's the fish story. It's always the fish story!

I'm glad your friend's Dad is doing well!!

Tay said...

I'm gonna say #5. I believe you, I just think you got a different amount for it.

#1. It's too casually put out there. She'd have needed way more than surgery. (If this is not a lie, I want a post on it.)
