A bunch of pictures

Scott, in Oregon asked us to take pictures within 50 (or was it 100?) feet of where we sleep, and since i never need much excuse to weild my camera, i did.

This is what i woke up to outside:

Ice on the table:
Summer shoes, all sandy from the beach. There's a snail hidden in one of them, can you see it?

What on earth is this? Pretty colors though:Drying my wings in the morning breeze:

Frost on the Lamb's Ear:

Oarlocks, not Warlocks:
Why can i not go out too? Oh, i can:
The pump house is almost disappeared:
I can't resist fall leaves:
Big leaf maple leaves, lining the path:

Oh, geez! That's very pretty! Much different than our urban concrete jungle here.

I had never thought too much about that part of the US. It looks waaaayyyyy better than 50 feet from where I sleep. It seems I need to rethink that beautiful part of the USA. VERY PRETTY, calm, relaxing, and you have sheep?!!!??!!!?!?

Do you get up at some unGodly hour? I get up in the dark, but I don't look outside much until it gets lighter.

this made me sigh so loud

Glimpses of the pieces create a more interesting story than the sum. Nice of your to feed our souls.

Wow. See. And your beer stayed cold just sitting there...

Now who else is gonna have a go?

That first photo looking out across the lake is extraordinary! What kind of bird is in the photo, drying her wings?

Love the reflection (although the leaf or whaever in the water looks like one of schmoopie's kids dropped their webkinz.....)

I'm so jealous of your vibrant color. The leaves here are giving a sort of bored show, and I can't quite tell if the colors seem so muted because of their boredom, or the truly crappy weather we've been having....

MENO! GORGEOUS! I LOVE the fall colors - I've got some pictures in my camera that I'll download and post soon, too. I'm amazed by how quickly the colors in New England go by - I swear to GOD that I've got the Whomping Willow's maple cousin in my front yard - I left for work on Tuesday and it was FULL of glorious yellow leaves; I came home, and it was COMPLETELY naked. What the HELL?!

chani, i am lucky to live in a place of such beauty.

my pool, yes, it is beautiful here. Really.
No sheep, lamb's ear is a plant. :)

de, no, i don't do early. It just looked darker because of the exposure.

flutter, i heard you.

patches, i love odd pictures of odd things.

scott, my beer did. :) i hope some other have a go too.

schmoopie, She is a cormorant. They have to dry their wings in order to survive. They sit out on the buoys with their wings spread. It's a lovely sight.

amusing, i like that one too. It has been a great fall for color here. Usually that is reserved for the East.

mrs. chili, i know, i love LOVE the fall colors as well. I drive around in constant awe.

Neat photos but they make me shiver! It is just after 17:00 here on Maui & the temp is about 84F. But it will cool down to 70 or so by morning.

I especially like your pampas grass in that first photo. We had ours trimmed this year & I hope it will come back looking good.

what a beautiful setting. it must be absolutely peaceful. (except when Em is driving.)

that's it. i quit this life and am moving in with you post haste. c u soonly.

My fav was the kitty shot...It is so peaceful. What on earth IS that in the one shot? I am so curious!!
I'm having a go as soon as I am home during some daylight!

So lovely and peaceful. I love these photo essays.

You can the ocean from your place. It's official, I hate you.

Lovely pictures Meno. I'll be down next summer for a short visit, only two or three months at most:)

dick, you just had to go and say that part about Maui didn't you? Brat! Our pampas grass gets trimmed every year, and it springs back like the razor-edged weed it is.

bob, it is peaceful. Except when the neighbors have their 4th of July bash.

liv, i'd better get busy cleaning the guest room.

cheesy, i like the kitty picture too. I like animals. That shot is our green plastic wheelbarrow full of water, with the reflection of some oat grass and a leaf in it.

wng, it's not all fun and sun, but it's pretty beautiful here much of the time.

peevish, i like them too! You do one.

deb, nope, not the ocean, merely a lake. Merely! Note the lack of waves.

damn girl, i'm packing a bag and headed your way for a vacay! how gorgeous! i like this idea...i will do it too!

I dream of the day I will live close to the ocean.

crave is perhaps a better word.

beautiful glimpses into your everday.

I'm almost there, even. . .

oops. I feel silly. But I can see why they call it lambs ear. Not that I have any practical knowledge of a real lambs ear, and obviously none of the plant.

That's some beautiful "stuff" you get to see!

Lake, ocean, I don't care. It's just beautiful.

That leaf lined path looks almost intentionally lined... I love leaf lined paths.

Well that's not fair...I was hoping for some vertical terrain photos. *s*

And Scott, I'll give it a go, honest. And no, the trains aren't close enough to include, so you're safe.

Gorgeous photos! Beautiful place where you hang your hat and rest your head. Can you hear my big sigh?

egan said...

Awesome, now that you've showed these pictures I will be dropping off Anna for babysitting. I hope you don't mind. I know those oar locks well.

Scott from Oregon said...

So Meno, do you have three favorites?

heartinsanfrancisco said...

Beautiful pics!! I miss the abundance of fall leaves, especially Maple, and have to make do with a single tree that becomes a microcosm of the season.

Thank you for sharing these with we seriously fall-deprived folks.

Tink said...

That first shot was BEAUTIFUL. I wish I could wake up to that every morning instead of the view of our overgrown backyard. I like the ice and frost pictures too. Colored leaves are always a favorite of mine, since we have none here. Thanks for sharing!

franki, i look forward to seeing your pictures!

crazymumma, i love the water. There's somthing beautiful to look at every day.

popeye, i'm afraid you will be arriving at a rather bleak time here. But it will get better.

my pool, don't feel silly. I don't know if i would want a real sheep.

luckyzmom, i have to agree, beautiful stuff.

moi, i love the leaves too. A real bright spot here in the fall.

joan, i think you are in Disneyland, the happiest place on earth. :)

pat, i am lucky.

bo, i do too. I carefully placed each leaf.

irrelephant, what? No trains? I saw some this weekend and thought of you.

lynn, i hear it. I am very fortunate to be able to live somewhere so pretty.

egan, bring her on over.

scott, three favorite pictures? The first, the cat, and the maple tree. Why?

hearts, you are welcome. :)

tink, it's lucky for me that o have so much prettiness to take pictures of.

Great pictures of the beautiful place where you live. If it weren't for our enormous garden everything around me would be houses and streets. Since there is the garden I'm sitting here looking at some spectacular autumn foliage.

I think if I lived somewhere like that I'd be much calmer. Beautiful photos.

Anonymous said...

Wow, very pretty. You captured the season.

urban-urchin said...

if that was my view every day I'd retire early too! Gorgeous.

Anonymous said...

Meno, I fear I've already over-train-photoed most of my readers so I've cut back severely on the locomotive posts. And you thought of me when you saw that train; that's so sweet! *hug*

meno said...

susanne, i am glad you have that garden too.

kelly, hmmm, that means that i should be calmer.

capacious, thank you.

u-u, eh, i'd retire without the view. :)

irrelephant, :)
