A bunch of pictures
Scott, in Oregon asked us to take pictures within 50 (or was it 100?) feet of where we sleep, and since i never need much excuse to weild my camera, i did.
This is what i woke up to outside:

I had never thought too much about that part of the US. It looks waaaayyyyy better than 50 feet from where I sleep. It seems I need to rethink that beautiful part of the USA. VERY PRETTY, calm, relaxing, and you have sheep?!!!??!!!?!?
Do you get up at some unGodly hour? I get up in the dark, but I don't look outside much until it gets lighter.

That first photo looking out across the lake is extraordinary! What kind of bird is in the photo, drying her wings?
Love the reflection (although the leaf or whaever in the water looks like one of schmoopie's kids dropped their webkinz.....)
I'm so jealous of your vibrant color. The leaves here are giving a sort of bored show, and I can't quite tell if the colors seem so muted because of their boredom, or the truly crappy weather we've been having....
MENO! GORGEOUS! I LOVE the fall colors - I've got some pictures in my camera that I'll download and post soon, too. I'm amazed by how quickly the colors in New England go by - I swear to GOD that I've got the Whomping Willow's maple cousin in my front yard - I left for work on Tuesday and it was FULL of glorious yellow leaves; I came home, and it was COMPLETELY naked. What the HELL?!

schmoopie, She is a cormorant. They have to dry their wings in order to survive. They sit out on the buoys with their wings spread. It's a lovely sight.
amusing, i like that one too. It has been a great fall for color here. Usually that is reserved for the East.
mrs. chili, i know, i love LOVE the fall colors as well. I drive around in constant awe.
Neat photos but they make me shiver! It is just after 17:00 here on Maui & the temp is about 84F. But it will cool down to 70 or so by morning.
I especially like your pampas grass in that first photo. We had ours trimmed this year & I hope it will come back looking good.

dick, you just had to go and say that part about Maui didn't you? Brat! Our pampas grass gets trimmed every year, and it springs back like the razor-edged weed it is.

cheesy, i like the kitty picture too. I like animals. That shot is our green plastic wheelbarrow full of water, with the reflection of some oat grass and a leaf in it.

oops. I feel silly. But I can see why they call it lambs ear. Not that I have any practical knowledge of a real lambs ear, and obviously none of the plant.

Beautiful pics!! I miss the abundance of fall leaves, especially Maple, and have to make do with a single tree that becomes a microcosm of the season.

That first shot was BEAUTIFUL. I wish I could wake up to that every morning instead of the view of our overgrown backyard. I like the ice and frost pictures too. Colored leaves are always a favorite of mine, since we have none here. Thanks for sharing!

Great pictures of the beautiful place where you live. If it weren't for our enormous garden everything around me would be houses and streets. Since there is the garden I'm sitting here looking at some spectacular autumn foliage.
